Coach Othell Brown was born in New York City in 1987 but moved to Johns Island a few years later. He developed an interest in combat sports after watching the UFC and joined a boxing gym at the age of 21. His first amateur fight came in 2012, and he came out with the win. It was a defining moment in his life, and drove him to pursue kickboxing at a higher level.
Coach Brown went on to have a successful amateur career, culminating in a fight for the World Kickboxing Championship in Florida against the 5x World Champion. Although he lost, Coach Brown was very proud of how far he made it in the tournament.
He eventually switched from Kickboxing to Boxing and fell in love with the sport. He realized that his true passion was teaching The Art of Boxing and retired from professional fighting.
Coach Brown started Art Of Boxing USA in 2020 and the business actually took off during the beginning of Covid, due to people looking for a way to stay fit while the gyms were closed. Coach Brown did a lot of outdoor training throughout the pandemic.
As of 2023, Coach Brown has nearly 100 students. He stays busy, but that's a "good thing in my book". His future plans for Art Of Boxing USA are to turn it into a world-class boxing gym and training as many aspiring boxers as possible.
